Faculty Trustee
2024-2025
Serving as faculty trustee has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my time at ASU. Representing faculty perspectives while navigating the complexities of institutional priorities taught me how difficult and nuanced university decision-making can be. I’ve learned a great deal from ASU’s leadership—especially President Tandberg and Provost Doell—about strategy, transparency, and the deep care that drives their work. Their commitment to equity, student success, and institutional resilience has been truly inspiring. I’m also grateful for the wisdom and dedication of the trustees and especially honored to have served alongside Trustee Mark Martinez—may he rest in peace.

Movement for the Mind
Co-Principal Investigator
With the goal of promoting mental and physical health for local youth, the kinesiology and psychology departments have partnered to offer free movement activities for children and adolescents in the San Luis Valley.
Last year, we found that participants had significant improvements in self-esteem, vigor, and less anger and anxiety after the movement sessions.

Build resilience for students
Lead Researcher
Our program for middle school and high school students fosters resilience, grit, and leadership skills that are foundational for optimal functioning and well-being in youth. We have developed a 4-step process drawing on evidence that resilience can be enhanced through interventions.
We provide educators with lessons that can be customized for specific needs, and we are available for consulting and speaking events.
